SEXUALITY

Freedom of Desires

Sexuality is one of the last real taboos of our society and as a result is not often addressed by institution for fear of reprisals from unsympathetic workers or by Clause 28 of the Local Government Act . This misguided notion often prevents vital work and exploration around an issue that is a part of every single person’s identity.

"One in three teenage suicides are related in to concerns of sexuality issues" -Stonewall 1996.

This culturally sensitive programme explores the notions of sexuality within an appropriate moral framework for each specific institution. It focuses on the different concepts of heterosexuality, bisexuality and homosexuality and explores the implications of these in everyday life. It has successfully run in catholic schools and other youth settings.
This programme addresses the following issues:
  • What is sexuality?
  • Sexual discrimination
  • The effects of peer pressure.
  • Asking for help
